What Makes Me Passionate about Childcare
Opportunity to shape children's lives for the better.
~Sandy Escobido

Create a safer more just world for all kids.
~ Louise Derman-Sparks

Notable Quotes

"Developmentally appropriate practices are ways of teaching that vary for or adapt to the age and experience of the individual learner. So fundamentally the definition has not changed. Instead, it has been expanded to include the fact that not only do you have to consider children as individuals, but you also have to consider children as members of groups with their own cultural identities."
~ Dr.Susan Bredekamp

By learning what works for whom, we can move beyond simply identifying a particular program’s outcomes to determining what we can do to help that program—and the young children it serves—succeed
~Sam Miesels

The quotes above really relate how I feel about the work that I do.
It is looking at the child as an entire enity and then designing a program around that child's needs that makes our job the most challenging yet very rewarding.

The Kissing Hand

This is one of my favorite children's books.  This book I get to share with a special child almost every week.  Who doesn't want to hold on to their mommy's love forever!

~~Kissing Hand Poem~~

A piece of me I give to you,
This special heart because
"I love you."
The heart is you, the hand is me,
It shows that we are
A Family.

This poem comes from teacher "Sandie in Seattle"

This is my family!  My husband Bryan, My oldest daughter Shelby, My son Rhett, and my baby girl Emalyn.
Really not sure why social networking has taken over... but I guess it is either get on board or get passed by.
This has been a crazy week in the life of a child development center director.  Nothing unnerves you more in this field than a death of a child or the proof of abuse of a child.  This week we had both.  It not so much in the profession of Early Childhood education that I want all children to have the great foundation and appetite for learning so much as I want the children in my building to know how much they are loved and cherished.  They hold all the keys to the door of the future.. It just devastates me when a child's own parent slam their door of opportunity shut.
